About the Film
Set in 1942 Indianapolis, Bayard Rustin, recently fired from the ranks of a rapidly approaching march, commits a reckless one person sit-in at a local diner run by Junior Ray, a rare female business owner. Afraid she’ll lose her business, Junior Ray unsympathetically refuses to serve Bayard a burger. Wagering lunch against his life and her livelihood, Bayard challenges Junior Ray and the Sheriff to see him for what he is -- a customer.
